Advance Parole Document

Form I-512L, “Authorization for Parole of an Alien into the United States” is generally issued for multiple entries and is typically valid for one year.

Individuals can present this document when they apply for admission to the U.S. For the first time use of this document, the CBP officer at the port of entry will stamp all copies; keep one copy for the CBP files; and return the remaining copy to the bearer for future use (as it is a multiple entry document). For subsequent travel using the same advance parole document, the CBP will stamp the document and return it to the individual.

Please be aware that each time an individual enters the U.S. using advance parole authorization, s/he may be taken into “secondary” inspection at the port-of-entry. There, the CBP officer will confirm that s/he has an adjustment of status application pending and will process the application for entry pursuant to the advance parole document. Since this “secondary” inspection may be lengthy, individuals should allow at least two (2) hours between connecting flights in order to complete the inspection.
